Electrical fires can occur when electrical equipment overheats, wiring becomes damaged or circuits overload. They can be particularly dangerous because there may still be live electrical current present, increasing the risk of electric shock if the wrong firefighting method is used. Electrical fires produce unique risks and dangers, and using the right extinguisher is vital. Darren explains more about putting out electrical fires with a Zonova FX-16 extinguisher. So the FX-500 range, the extinguisher is an all-in-one extinguisher, so as well as putting an all-classifier, it can actually deal with electric fires as well. So it's a dielectric and it can be used up to 1000 volts. So you can use it onto your electrics. If you have got an electric fire, yes, you can use that fluid onto an electrical fire, but only up to 1000 volts, so it is safe to use into a home, and it will extinguish that fire straight away. You can use obviously CO2s as a dry agent that you can use, but if you haven't got a CO2 at hand, again, you are not thinking about it, you are just going to pick up certainly the FX-500 aerosol, you can pick that up and use that straight away. You don't have to go, "What extinguisher am I going to use?" So with the FX fire extinguisher range, we do recommend that if you have got electric fires, keep CO2 in place. And the reason being is because it's a dry agent. Now yes, it puts out electrical fires, the FX puts out electrical fires, but it's a wet, it's a wet fluid going onto electrics. It does the job to a thousand volts, but if you can use a dry agent then you're reducing the damage within the components. So we do recommend that as well as a support to the FX firefighting range.
