HeartHero App for the Elliot AED
The HeartHero App is designed to work alongside the HeartHero Elliot AED, providing additional connected features to support AED readiness, monitoring, maintenance and post-event review.
The app helps users and organisations monitor the device, receive maintenance alerts, check readiness information and access event-related data after the AED has been used.
Calling Emergency Medical Services First
In any suspected cardiac arrest, the priority is always to call emergency medical services immediately. If the casualty is unresponsive and not breathing normally, call 999, place the phone on speaker and follow the instructions given by the emergency call handler.
The HeartHero App is a useful support tool, but it is not a replacement for emergency medical services, CPR or the AED’s own prompts.
Device Status Monitoring
One of the key benefits of the HeartHero App is its ability to support AED status monitoring. The app can provide information such as:
- Self-test results
- Battery status
- Electrode pad status
- Error logs
- Maintenance records
- Device readiness information
This helps AED owners, guardians and organisations confirm whether the device is ready for use and identify anything that may need attention.
Bluetooth Pairing with the Elliot AED
The app supports Bluetooth pairing with the Elliot AED. To pair the device, press and hold the information button for more than three seconds while the AED is in standby mode.
The Bluetooth indicator will blink while the device is pairing and will become solid once the connection has been made.
Once paired, the app can be used to view readiness information and support ongoing AED management.
Post-Event Data and Review
Following an emergency use, the HeartHero App may gather and store treatment-related data. This can support post-event review and may assist with patient care and incident records.
Information may include:
- ECG recordings
- Shock delivery information
- Treatment timelines
- CPR performance metrics
- Device usage data
- Event records
In some cases, and with appropriate consent, location services and emergency event information may be used to support patient care and emergency response.
Benefits for Organisations
For workplaces, schools, public venues and community AED guardians, the HeartHero App can support a more proactive approach to AED management and defibrillator maintenance.
Instead of relying only on manual checks, the app can help users stay aware of:
- Readiness status
- Maintenance requirements
- Battery and pad condition
- Device alerts
- Post-event records
This can improve confidence that the AED is properly maintained and ready for emergency use.
The AED Operates Independently
It is important to understand that the HeartHero Elliot AED is designed to operate independently during an emergency, even if the app is not available or not functioning.
In a real cardiac arrest emergency, do not delay treatment to connect to the app. The priority remains:
- Call 999 immediately
- Start CPR if the casualty is not breathing normally
- Turn on the AED
- Apply the pads
- Follow the AED’s voice and visual prompts
Supporting Readiness and Emergency Response
In simple terms, the HeartHero App enhances AED readiness, monitoring, connectivity and post-event review. It is a valuable support tool for the HeartHero Elliot AED, helping owners and organisations manage their device more effectively.
However, during a real emergency, immediate action matters most: call for help, start CPR and follow the AED prompts without delay.
