The Coronavirus originated in Wuhan, China in late 2019 when someone at the Huanan Seafood market was infected with a virus from an animal. The exact source is being investigated as knowing where it came from, will help in controlling future viruses from developing.

As of the 30th of January 2020, the World Health Organisation declared it a global emergency. COVID-19 rapidly spread around the world and the number of those countries infected rapidly increased as did the death rates globally.

Signs and symptoms of the virus are similar to those of the flu, such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough, loss of taste and or smell. There are other symptoms and not every case has all these or is exactly the same. If Coronavirus is suspected, the patient must be isolated. This also means that if you come in to contact with someone suspected of having the virus, you must also isolate yourself, and any contact that may need to be made should be done by telephone, not face to face.

Viruses like these can mutate and situations can quickly change, which is what we are seeing with different variants arising in different areas across the world. Make sure you follow the most up-to-date guidelines in your region as we cannot provide exact up to date information for every part of the world.
