Course Details
Outdoor Pursuits 8 Hour First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)
This course is ideal for people working in the outdoors where the weather and terrain create additional difficulties. The Emergency Services may also take some time to arrive requiring additional skills to keep the casualty safe and warm. The course is fully aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid at Band 3. It includes scene safety, calling for help, assessment and monitoring, CPR, choking, unconscious casualties, severe and life-threatening bleeding, crush and head injuries, broken bones, hypothermia and Lyme Disease. This is a very practical hands-on course. You will largely work in pairs with another student, taking turns to be first aider and casualty. Please wear clothing appropriate for kneeling/lying on the ground. Lunch and hot drinks will be provided but please bring your own snacks. There is plenty of parking at the venue.
