Next Steps: Completing Your IREC First Aid Qualification
Now that you have completed the online learning part of the course, the next step is to move on to Part Two – the classroom module. Both elements are essential to successfully achieve your qualification.
The Classroom-Based Training Module
During the classroom module, you will build on what you have already learned online. This is a practical, hands-on course designed to develop confidence, skills, and teamwork.
Throughout the session, you will:
- Learn new subjects not covered in the online module
- Work through a range of realistic first aid scenarios
- Practise key skills across multiple situations
- Apply your knowledge in a safe, supportive environment
Working as Part of a Team
Up to now, much of your first aid learning may have focused on working independently. In the classroom module, you will also practise working as part of a team.
This often involves:
- Working in pairs or small groups
- Sharing roles and responsibilities
- Communicating clearly during emergencies
- Managing incidents together in a coordinated way
These skills are vital in real-life first aid situations where teamwork can significantly improve outcomes.
Practical Assessments and Scenarios
The course is deliberately highly interactive and practical. You will have plenty of time to:
- Practise techniques repeatedly
- Receive guidance and feedback from the instructor
- Demonstrate competence across all required learning outcomes
All practical evaluations are carried out during the classroom session.
The Final Test
As part of the course, you will also complete a multiple-choice assessment. This test is:
- Set by the awarding organisation
- Completed on a computer in the classroom
- Designed to confirm your understanding of the course content
In most cases, results are returned very quickly, meaning you will usually know whether you have passed before you leave the course.
What You Need to Do to Pass
To successfully complete the course and gain your qualification, you must:
- Complete the online learning module
- Attend and participate in the classroom-based training
- Pass all practical assessments
- Achieve the required outcomes in the final multiple-choice test
Achieving Your IREC Qualification
Once you have successfully completed all parts of the course, you will have met every requirement needed to achieve your IREC qualification.
Well done for completing the online module. We look forward to supporting you through the classroom training and helping you qualify with confidence.
