Introduction to CPR and AED Level 2 Course
Your TQUK Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation course begins with a short introduction and overview of the course content.
Initial Care and Safety
In this section, we start by looking at some of the common reasons people are reluctant to provide first aid, the importance of asking permission to help, and how and when to call the Emergency Services, You will learn about scene safety, the chain of survival and how to conduct an initial assessment using the DRAB and ABCD's concepts, as well as how to place a casualty into the Recovery Position. Finally, we look at the use of PPE, including barriers, gloves, and face shield.
Heart Attack
Heart Attacks can be a common first aid emergency and in this section, you will learn the signs and symptoms associated with heart attack, how to assist somebody you suspect is having a heart attack, and the best position for them to be in while you wait for the Emergency Services, including the use of aspirin.
Cardiac Arrest and CPR
This section begins with an introduction to CPR, followed by the correct procedures to administer CPR to Adults, Children, and Infants. You will learn how to hand over to another rescuer, how to carry out compressions only CPR. We look at seizures during cardiac arrest and how to deal with a drowning. as well as SADS, Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, which is caused by abnormalities in the heart rhythm. Finally, we look at ways to improve both your compressions and breaths.
AED Introduction and Types
Here we have an introduction to AED units and look at the different types of units available.
Using an AED
AED units are easy to set up but in this section, we will show you how to do that and demonstrate how to use an AED correctly, including on children and how to use a training AED unit.
AED Maintenance
This section covers the technical aspects of AED maintenance, how to care for the pads and batteries, and troubleshooting for potential problems.
AED Locations
Summary and Practical Part Two
In summary, we will look at AED post Resuscitation procedures, the use of Oxygen during First Aid, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This section also contains important information on the practical part of your training and a short course summary.
