Dental Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED Level 2 (VTQ)
This 4 hour dental basic life support (BLS) and AED course is designed for all staff working in a dental surgery who need to respond confidently in medical emergencies. Through a blend of practical exercises and clear guidance, you’ll gain the ability to respond to emergencies across all age groups while following current best practice within dentistry.This training provides essential life saving techniques adapted specifically for dental environments, including:
Infection control and safe working practices
Patient assessment and early emergency recognition
Safe positioning of an unconscious casualty
Resuscitation techniques for adults, children, and infants
Hands-only chest compressions
Handover procedures to emergency services
Managing airway obstruction (choking)
Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice
The course also prepares you to recognise and respond to conditions commonly encountered in dental surgeries, including:
Seizures
Breathing difficulties such as asthma
Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
