{"id":8713,"date":"2022-03-06T18:32:54","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T18:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/?p=8713"},"modified":"2022-03-06T18:32:54","modified_gmt":"2022-03-06T18:32:54","slug":"employees-life-is-saved-at-gressingham-foods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/employees-life-is-saved-at-gressingham-foods\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee\u2019s life is saved thanks to quick thinking team at Gressingham Foods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-8715 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Gressingham Foods\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/DSC02404.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Employee\u2019s life is saved thanks to quick thinking team at Gressingham Foods, with the administration of CPR and a defibrillator unit at hand, Gressingham Foods employee survives sudden cardiac arrest<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A man\u2019s life has been saved after he suffered a cardiac arrest at work thanks to the quick-thinking actions of his colleagues at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gressinghamduck.co.uk\/\">Gressingham Foods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Artur Klab, a 45-year-old factory worker at Gressingham Foods, was moving trollies at its facility in Redgrave when he collapsed of a sudden cardiac arrest last December.\u00a0Thankfully, Artur\u2019s colleagues noticed he had collapsed immediately and were able to deliver CPR and administer five shocks from the factory\u2019s defibrillator \u2013 an action that saved Artur\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>Gressingham Foods manager Karoline Novak, who was one of the first on the scene when Artur collapsed, said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As soon as I saw Artur collapse, I knew that something was wrong. I rushed over to him and one of my colleagues, Shane Long, noticed that he had stopped breathing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother of my colleagues, Grace Evans, contacted security immediately to call for an ambulance. \u00a0Shane, along with the other co-workers at the scene Carrie Barrett, Marcelino Da Silva, James Pipe and Theo Kadova, all began taking it in turns to administer CPR.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thankfully, we had a defibrillator close by on-site and my colleague James was able use the unit to deliver a total of 5 shocks to Artur. Eventually, we were able to establish a heart rhythm and shortly after that, the paramedics arrived to take Artur to hospital in an air ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a really scary situation but I&#8217;m just so glad that we were all so close by to help Artur.<\/p>\n<p>Artur\u2019s cardiac arrest was caused by an underlying heart condition he was unaware of \u2013 the dangers of which were highlighted by the collapse of footballer Christian Eriksen after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at the 2020 UEFA European Football Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Following his transfer to the hospital, Artur made a remarkable recovery, returning to consciousness and being able to speak to family and friends within 48 hours of his collapse. He has since had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator fitted to his heart, which will help restart his heart if needed, and was able to return to work in January.<\/p>\n<p>The paramedics who attended the scene said the fact his colleagues were able to act quickly and use a defibrillator to restart Artur\u2019s heart was the reason his life had been saved and that he had avoided catastrophic brain damage.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the experience, Artur said: \u201cI want to thank everyone who helped me as without their quick response I don\u2019t think I would be here today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am grateful to everyone that assisted me and all the aftercare and kind messages that the team at Gressingham Foods has given me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gressingham first installed a defibrillator at its Redgrave facility 10 years ago and routinely provides medical training \u2013 including how to administer CPR \u2013 to its employees.<\/p>\n<p>Following the incident, the business also brought in a life councillor to support those that had witnessed Artur\u2019s collapse. The employees involved in saving Artur\u2019s life also received a thank you letter and gift from the company\u2019s managing director Chris Morley.<\/p>\n<p>Carrie Barrett, a learning and development manager at Gressingham Foods who helped issue CPR said: \u201cThis incident highlights the importance of businesses investing medical in life-saving equipment such as defibrillators and in training for their staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really thankful that we were able to act quickly to save Artur\u2019s life and am so pleased to see him back fit and well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of us at ProTrianings congratulate the team at Gressingham Foods and we have awarded them the ProTrainings Good Samaritan Award for their good quick thinking and action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Employee\u2019s life is saved thanks to quick thinking team at Gressingham Foods, with the administration of CPR and a defibrillator unit at hand, Gressingham Foods employee survives sudden cardiac arrest A man\u2019s life has been saved after he suffered a cardiac arrest at work thanks to the quick-thinking actions of his colleagues at Gressingham Foods.
