{"id":10698,"date":"2025-05-27T15:45:55","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T14:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/pages\/article\/health-and-safety-first-aid-regulations-1981\/"},"modified":"2025-05-27T15:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T14:47:08","slug":"health-and-safety-first-aid-regulations-1981","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/article\/health-and-safety-first-aid-regulations-1981\/","title":{"rendered":"Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Health and Safety (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/article\/first-aid-kits-for-catering-and-food-preparation\/\">First-Aid<\/a>) Regulations 1981 have been updated and they cover the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/article\/first-aid-equipment-and-what-first-aiders-are-required\/\">first aid provision<\/a> of first aid training and equipment that employers need to follow.\u00a0 There is no one solution to all businesses as each business needs to look at the guidelines and carry out risk assessments to ensure they meet or exceed the recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/248865639\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/firstaid\/legislation.htm\">HSE<\/a> state in a simple term on their website about these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protrainings.uk\/blog\/article\/first-aid-at-work-regulations\/\">regulations<\/a> and what employers need to do as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. These Regulations apply to all workplaces including those with less than five employees and to the self-employed.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What is \u2018adequate and appropriate\u2019 will depend on the circumstances in the workplace. This includes whether trained first-aiders are needed, what should be included in a first-aid box and if a first-aid room is required. Employers should carry out an assessment of first-aid needs to determine what to provide.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Regulations do not place a legal duty on employers to make first-aid provision for non-employees such as the public or children in schools.
